There are a number of nautical icons that gain our respect for their service to mankind and, along with lighthouses, the tugboat must be right up near the top. From early childhood we learn about how tugboats are the servants of the big liners and cargo ships, helping them enter and leave ports with safety.
Our model is of a 1920's steam tug and features the snub-nosed design that gently cajoles bigger ships into position. It features rope bolsters, brass propellor, moving rudder, navigation lights, and lifeboats. The hull is hewn from a solid piece of timber and measures approximately 35 cm long. It comes fully assembled.
